Product Description
Baby Jogger City Classic Double Stroller Don't let the name fool you; Baby Jogger isn't just a jogging stroller company, and their City Series Strollers are here to prove it. Double the fun The Baby Jogger City Classic Double Stroller is the only swivel wheel stroller on the market to utilize a patented Quick-Fold Technology. All it takes is the tug of a strap to fold quickly and compactly. A one-touch switch toggles between either swivel or locked front wheels. The stroller's 12 inch wheels allow for easy transitions on all types of terrain and provide a smooth ride for your bouncing babies. Your little ones will love the City Classic just as much as you. With ample shoulder and leg space, the quick release recline system in the deep-padded seats creates an extra comfortable environment. The multi-position sun canopy blocks those harsh rays from your children's eyes, and the front suspension helps to create a bump-free ride.

3 out of 5 stars Let's Go for a Walk with the City Classic Double   August 10, 2010
C. Burns (NYC)
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

May this review serve as a humble contribution to the astounding community of parent (and grandparent!) reviewers on Amazon. Thank you all!

We are a tall family who needed a high weight-limit, heavy-duty stroller for our twins. We've had this stroller for about a year now. It's an investment, so a detailed review is in order. Let's go for a walk...

Pros: Easy Rider.
- This is one smoooooooooth ride folks. Cobblestones, rough pavement, grass, dirt, snow, twigs; doesn't matter. It easily glides over any terrain. It'll put the kids to sleep and make your nanny weep.

- It turns on a dime. (A lot of "jogging" strollers don't.)

- The kids are comfortable, most of the time (see below).

- It's comfortable for long walks, and even with the backs down it doesn't nip the shins. It also has plenty of seat and belt room for blankets, snugglers, wraps, layers, lovies and the like.

- I'm 6' and my husband is 6'4". The (adjustable) handle and the stroller seem built for tall people, and the seats seem built for tall babies and kids. Lots of room for them and no back pain for us. They have a lot of room to grow into it, not out of it.

- The shoulder harnesses are adjustable to a tall height. They are also removable so there can be just a lap belt for the little ones who don't need shoulder harnesses yet.

- You can hang many pounds from the back of it and it won't tip over, even when it's empty. A good tip for grocery shopping, that 20-pound double diaper bag, and root vegetable season at the farmer's market.

Cons: Driving The Bus.
For something called the "City Classic" this stroller isn't very city-friendly.

- A parent console would have been nice. Can Mama get a cupholder at least? Paying an additional $50 for one is insulting, especially when it was included with our "cheapie" umbrella strollers.

- The seats are deep buckets and it has canvas sides, so the kids have to lean forward to look around. The natural position of the seat is rather reclined. This seems trivial, but the kids lean forward for an hour+ at a time on a long walk. Also, their legs are higher than their seats. They are both over 30" tall and size 2T, yet it seems like they're sitting in a well. (Hello, in there?)

- It read well online, but the "quick fold" isn't ergonomic or convenient. It's a straight horizontal fold instead of the accordion fold of most strollers. Even folded it takes up a lot of room and you'll need both hands to carry it. The fold also means the handlebar is against the ground when it's stored, so it gets dirty and scraped up pretty fast.

- It's a behemoth. It's so big you can pretend it's a camel and you're in a Silk Road caravan. It's so big that strangers comment on it, and I dare say some cross the street when they see it coming. The width is one of Baby Jogger's big selling points, which is why it's worth discussing.
To wit:

- It claims to fit through all "standard doors" but it won't fit through doorways in old buildings, small stores, or any building that isn't updated to ADA standards. In a city like NYC, that eliminates a LOT of options. For example, it doesn't fit through the front door or down the narrow hallway of our old building. Consider the implications of that, logistically, with babies who aren't walking yet. In hindsight that alone would have kept me from buying this model. If you're unsure, measure your daily spaces!

- It weighs a ton. 35 pounds doesn't seem like a lot when you see it on sale with free shipping. Trust me, 35 pounds is very heavy.

- It takes up the lion's share of the back of our otherwise roomy Jeep Cherokee.

- Unless Atlas himself is with you, forget hefting it through an airport.

- You can also forget the subway. Just...forget it.

- Unless you're very strong, balanced, and very patient, forget navigating a flight of stairs. When I tried, it took three adults to help me and I got a lesson in humility.

- It will hog a typical elevator, which has forced us to wait for the next one or leave other people to wait. "Sorry, this elevator is full - with my stroller."

To sum: this is a great stroller - if you live for the park or nature reserve, have wide open stores and public spaces, and if you own a car with a low, large trunk that doesn't need to carry much else. They should have named it the Suburban classic - it's the size of a Suburban, and fits well in that environment.

But if, like us, you live with stairs, subways, old buildings, and narrow everything (halls, sidewalks, doors, etc), I would keep looking.

One more note, for you twin parents: we bought two umbrella strollers and connectors. It seemed counterintuitive at first but WOW does it make things easier when we're both out. For restaurants, crowds, subways, and for travel (especially in airports) it's a system that can't be beat. We got the whole rig for $100, and it's been 100% worth it.

Cheers!

4 out of 5 stars Great double stroller   August 6, 2010

This is my first double stroller and I think it is great. The sidewalks near me are horrible and this stroller handles them really well. My kids are 4 years and 8 months and they fit great in the stroller. I have never had a problem with unbalance at all.
My only reason for the 4 stars is that sometimes it is tricky to fold up. I really have to pull up on the straps on both sides really hard a couple of times. Other than that I love this stroller and would totally recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Worth every penny! Definitely reccomend it!   August 6, 2010
melissa padilla (riverbank, california, usa)
I got this stroller for $449 total. Shipping included, no tax. It was worth every penny. My previous stroller was a Graco Quattro Tour Duo double stroller (tandem) and going from that to this was wonderful. The weight is about the same, which is pretty typical for a double. It is heavy but not unmanageable. It pushes and turns so smoothly. It is wide, I use it for outside, I wouldnt reccomend it for going to the mall, but it does standard doors no problem.
I am able to put in the trunk of a small sedan by removing the front wheels. It is a tight fit, but it makes it.

My kids are 4,3 and 10 months. Im sure its not reccomended but sometimes my 3 year old rides on the top while my 4 year old and baby ride in the seats, its really convinient. So total in the stroller (with nobody on top) is around 65 pounds.

The only negative thing about this stroller would be when you are folding it the handle bar hits the ground pretty hard. Because you have to use both hands to pull up hard on the collapsing straps, there is no hand available to slow the handle from slamming into the ground. I hate my strollers getting scratched, so this bothers me a little. Oh, and when folded there isnt a way to lock it tightly into place so its a little floppy. These things dont affect the use, I leave it opened most of the time. If I needed to keep it folded I might get tired of it.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Stroller   May 27, 2010
LZaun (Houston, TX)
After searching for a double stroller and "test driving" many of them, we decided on the Baby Jogger City. It has been wonderful. We bought it when we were expecting our 2nd child, we also have a 2 year old. We bought the car seat adapter for our Graco infant carrier and used it until my youngest was 3 months old; we did not have any problems with it. The stroller is extremely easy to assemble and has a very smooth ride. It is easy to push (can maneuver with 1 hand) and both girls are very comfortable. You aren't going to find a light jogging stroller, trust me, I looked. We bought the Baby Jogger over the BOB simply because it was easier to fold. You can fold it up using one hand. I use this stroller daily and absolutely love it.

5 out of 5 stars Great double jogger   April 27, 2010

I love this stroller. I bought it after 2 different used ones. The regular double stroller was a pain, the wheels never went in the direction you wanted to go. The other was a used double basic jogger by Babyjogger that was a gift from an uncle from a craig's list posting -- it was nice, but the straps had been cut off one of the seats, making it impossible to use. So I was fed up, decided to find a quality stoller that I could use outside and at the dog park, or bring it shopping in shops that aren't narrow. This city jogger was my choice and I am very happy with it. The handle is adjustable to height, it has a smooth ride, and I can get it up and down curbs with ease, which means not waking up the babies. It's easy to maneuver, and brilliantly closes up in a single pull (though I wish there were a latch to keep it closed better). But I can fit it in the back of my Rav4 with enough room for my 60 lb dog to move around. It's a little heavy, but its ease in other respects trumps the weight issue. I think most mothers could get it in and out, but it's still a slight challenge. A handbreak would also be nice. But overall, I would buy it again, b/c it's going to last for the 4 years I need it. It should recoup at least 1/4 of its value on Craigs list later on. Oh, and I had help paying for it -- the cost is prohibitive, and I probably would not have purchased otherwise. The truth is that twins are hard, and having a stroller that works for you without stress is valuable.
